Drug Warnings: Before taking VATOIN (vortioxetine), inform your doctor if you have bipolar disorder or a history of mania/hypomania, seizures, glaucoma (especially narrow-angle), liver or kidney problems, low sodium or use of diuretics, bleeding disorders or use of blood thinners, heart-rhythm issues, or if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid taking this medicine with other sedating medications unless advised, as it may increase drowsiness.
Drug–Drug Interactions: Do not use with MAO inhibitors (including linezolid or methylene blue) or within 14 days of stopping one. Use with other serotonergic medicines—such as SSRIs/SNRIs, triptans, tramadol, lithium or St John’s wort—raises the risk of serotonin syndrome and requires medical supervision. Strong CYP2D6 inhibitors (for example bupropion, fluoxetine, paroxetine, quinidine) can increase vortioxetine levels; your prescriber may use the lower dose. Strong CYP inducers (such as rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, St John’s wort) can reduce effect; dose adjustments or alternatives may be considered. Vortioxetine may increase bleeding tendency when combined with aspirin, NSAIDs or anticoagulants. Always tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter and herbal products you take.
Drug–Food Interactions: VATOIN can be taken with or without food. Alcohol should be limited, as it can worsen dizziness, judgment and reaction time.
Drug–Disease Interactions: Caution is advised in patients with bipolar disorder, seizure disorders, hyponatremia/SIADH risk, glaucoma, bleeding diathesis, and in those with hepatic or renal impairment who may need closer monitoring. Always share your full medical history to ensure the safe and effective use of VATOIN 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg (vortioxetine).
