VATHRO-500

VATHRO-500

AZITHROMYCIN 500MG TABLET

Vathro-500 (Azithromycin Tablets I.P. 500mg) contains Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic that works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria responsible for infections. It binds to bacterial ribosomes, preventing them from producing essential proteins needed for their survival and replication. This action helps the body’s immune system to eliminate the infection efficiently. Azithromycin is effective against a wide range of bacteria, including those causing respiratory tract infections, skin infections, ear infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections. Patients often notice improvement in symptoms such as fever, pain, and inflammation within a few days of starting therapy.

Vathro-500 is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Ear infections (otitis media)
  • Certain sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia

It is also prescribed in cases where patients are allergic to penicillin or other first-line antibiotics. By controlling bacterial growth, Vathro-500 helps relieve symptoms such as fever, pain, swelling, and inflammation, and supports faster recovery.

Adults and children above 12 years typically take one 500mg tablet daily, or as directed by a doctor, usually for 3–5 days depending on the type of infection. Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably on an empty stomach for better absorption, unless your doctor advises otherwise. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

Storage: Store Vathro-500 in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Common Side Effects: Mild side effects such as nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, or dizziness may occur. Most side effects are temporary and resolve on their own. Contact your doctor if symptoms persist or become severe.

Drug Warnings: Do not take Vathro-500 if you are allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin, or other macrolide antibiotics. Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney problems, heart rhythm disorders, myasthenia gravis, or a history of QT prolongation. Always complete the full course as prescribed, even if you feel better, to prevent the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Drug–Drug Interactions: Azithromycin may interact with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, blood thinners (warfarin), certain antiarrhythmics, and other antibiotics. Inform your doctor about all medications, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal products, before starting treatment.

Drug–Food Interactions: Vathro-500 can be taken with or without food. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption as it may worsen stomach irritation or reduce medication effectiveness.

Drug–Disease Interactions: Patients with liver or kidney disease, heart rhythm abnormalities, or gastrointestinal disorders should use Vathro-500 under strict medical supervision. Regular monitoring may be needed for safe and effective therapy.
