TEDOS-6

DEFLAZACORT 6MG TABLET

TEDOS contains Deflazacort, a corticosteroid medication that helps reduce inflammation in the body. Inflammation occurs when the immune system overreacts to infections, injuries, or autoimmune conditions, causing swelling, redness, pain, and tissue damage. Deflazacort works by suppressing the immune system and blocking the release of chemicals that trigger inflammation. This helps relieve symptoms associated with various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including joint pain, swelling, allergic reactions, and muscle inflammation. Compared to some older corticosteroids, Deflazacort may have a lower risk of causing weight gain and fluid retention, making it suitable for long-term use under medical supervision. Patients should follow the prescribed course carefully, as abrupt discontinuation can cause withdrawal symptoms or flare-ups of inflammation.

TEDOS 6 mg and 12 mg are prescribed for a variety of conditions where controlling inflammation is critical. These include autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and myositis, allergic conditions not responding to standard therapy, and respiratory diseases like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). TEDOS is also used for the prevention of organ transplant rejection by suppressing immune responses and for muscle disorders like Duchenne muscular dystrophy to reduce inflammation and improve muscle function. By managing inflammation effectively, TEDOS helps patients improve daily comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life.

The dosage of TEDOS depends on the patient’s condition, age, weight, and response to therapy, and should always be determined by a doctor. Typically, the medicine is taken once daily in the morning with food to minimize stomach irritation.
  • TEDOS-6 mg: Often prescribed for milder inflammatory conditions or as a starting dose.
  • TEDOS-12 mg: Usually prescribed for more severe inflammation or when higher doses are clinically indicated.
Capsules should be swallowed whole and not crushed, chewed, or broken. Elderly patients or those with liver or kidney problems may require dose adjustments.

Storage: Store TEDOS in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Common Side Effects: Mild stomach upset, headache, increased appetite, mood changes, or temporary fluid retention may occur. Consult your doctor if these effects persist or worsen.

Drug Warnings: Do not use TEDOS if you are allergic to Deflazacort or other corticosteroids. Inform your doctor if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, kidney or liver problems, glaucoma, infections, or heart disease. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided unless directed by your doctor to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

Drug–Drug Interactions: TEDOS may interact with medications such as blood thinners (warfarin), diabetes drugs, certain vaccines, antifungals (ketoconazole), and some antibiotics (rifampicin). Always inform your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter medicines, and supplements you are taking.

Drug–Food Interactions: Take TEDOS with food or milk to reduce stomach irritation. Avoid alcohol, as it may worsen gastrointestinal side effects.

Drug–Disease Interactions: Patients with infections, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, ulcers, or other chronic conditions should use TEDOS cautiously. Your doctor may adjust the dose or monitor you regularly to ensure safe and effective use.
