SLOFEN XL

SLOFEN XL

Baclofen Extended Release Tablets

SLOFEN-XL (Baclofen Extended Release Tablets) works by delivering Baclofen, a muscle relaxant, in a controlled, extended-release form to manage muscle spasticity and associated discomfort over an extended period. Baclofen is a GABA-B receptor agonist that reduces the transmission of nerve signals in the spinal cord, helping to relax tight or stiff muscles, relieve muscle spasms, and improve mobility in conditions such as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, or other neurological disorders. The extended-release formulation ensures a steady level of Baclofen in the bloodstream, allowing for once-daily dosing and sustained symptom relief throughout the day. Patients may experience gradual improvement in muscle tone, reduced pain, and better overall functional mobility.

SLOFEN-XL is indicated for the management of muscle spasticity caused by neurological disorders, including multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, or other conditions leading to increased muscle tone and stiffness. It helps reduce involuntary muscle contractions, spasms, and associated pain, thereby improving mobility, posture, and the ability to perform daily activities. This medicine should be used under medical supervision, especially in patients with pre-existing neurological or musculoskeletal conditions.

The dosage of SLOFEN-XL is individualized based on the patient’s condition, response to treatment, and tolerance. Typically, one extended-release tablet is taken once daily, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush, chew, or break it, as this can affect the extended-release mechanism. Do not adjust the dose without consulting your doctor.

Storage: Store SLOFEN-XL in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Common Side Effects: Patients may experience drowsiness, dizziness, headache, nausea, or mild weakness. These effects are usually temporary, but consult your doctor if they persist, worsen, or interfere with daily activities.

Drug Warnings

Do not use SLOFEN-XL if you are allergic to Baclofen or any of its components. Patients with kidney disease, epilepsy, heart problems, or a history of stroke should use this medication cautiously. Avoid sudden discontinuation, as it may cause withdrawal symptoms such as hallucinations, seizures, or increased spasticity.

Drug–Drug Interactions: SLOFEN-XL may interact with other CNS depressants, sedatives, antidepressants, antihypertensives, or alcohol, which can enhance drowsiness or hypotensive effects. Always inform your doctor about all medications, supplements, and herbal products you are taking.

Drug–Food Interactions: SLOFEN-XL can be taken with or without food. Limit alcohol intake, as it may increase drowsiness, dizziness, and the risk of falls. Maintain a balanced diet and adequate hydration while on therapy.

Drug–Disease Interactions: Patients with renal impairment, neurological disorders, heart conditions, or a history of mental health issues should use SLOFEN-XL under strict medical supervision. Your doctor may monitor your condition and adjust the dosage to ensure safe and effective treatment.
