Prizate 150mg and 300mg

Pregabalin Capsules IP

Prizate 150 mg and 300 mg (Pregabalin Capsules IP) contains pregabalin, a neuromodulator used for neuropathic pain, certain seizure disorders and, where approved, generalized anxiety. Many nerve-pain conditions arise when damaged or sensitized nerves fire excessively. Pregabalin binds to the α2δ subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in overactive neurons and reduces the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate, noradrenaline and substance P. By calming these pain-signaling pathways, it helps relieve burning, shooting or tingling pain, improves sleep quality and lessens anxiety-related arousal. Some people may notice temporary dizziness, sleepiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, swelling of feet or hands, weight gain, constipation, or difficulty concentrating. Take the medicine exactly as prescribed and talk to your doctor if side effects persist or become troublesome. This medicine is not intended for emergency pain crises or status epilepticus.

Prizate 150 mg and 300 mg are used under medical supervision for painful diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury, fibromyalgia (where approved), and as adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures. Clinicians may also use it for generalized anxiety disorder in settings where it is indicated.

Dosing is individualized. Many adults start at the equivalent of 150 mg per day, then, based on response and tolerability, the prescriber may increase to 300 mg per day after several days and, if needed, to higher daily doses divided into two or three administrations. Your doctor will choose between the 150 mg and 300 mg strengths to meet the target daily dose. Swallow the capsules whole with water; take at the same times each day. Do not stop suddenly unless your doctor tells you to, as a gradual taper helps reduce withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sweating or sleep disturbance. Because pregabalin is cleared by the kidneys, dose reductions are often required in renal impairment and in older adults.

Storage: Store Prizate in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Common Side Effects: The most frequently reported effects are dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation, weight gain, swelling of legs or feet, and difficulty concentrating. Less common reactions include mood changes, euphoria, unsteady gait, tremor or palpitations. Seek medical advice promptly if you develop new or worsening swelling, shortness of breath, suicidal thoughts, severe rash or allergic swelling, or vision changes that do not settle.

Drug Warnings: Before taking Prizate, inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure, heart problems including heart failure or a tendency to leg swelling, thyroid issues, glaucoma or prostate conditions, kidney disease, a history of depression, mood disorders or substance use disorder, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid taking this medicine with other sedating medications unless advised, as it may increase drowsiness and impair alertness and coordination.

Drug–Drug Interactions: Prizate may interact with certain medications, notably opioid painkillers and other central nervous system depressants (benzodiazepines, sleep medicines, antipsychotics, sedating antihistamines), which can add to sedation and, rarely, breathing problems. Concomitant use with ACE inhibitors may raise the risk of swelling; with thiazolidinedione antidiabetics it may increase edema and weight gain. Always tell your doctor about all prescription and over-the-counter drugs and supplements you are taking.

Drug–Food Interactions: The capsules can be taken with or without food. Limit alcohol while on Prizate, as it may increase sleepiness, dizziness and reaction-time impairment.

Drug–Disease Interactions: Patients with kidney impairment require dose adjustments and close monitoring. Caution is advised in heart failure or significant edema, in glaucoma or prostate enlargement due to possible visual blurring or urinary effects, and in individuals with a history of substance misuse because pregabalin can cause dependence or misuse in some patients. Always share your full medical history to ensure safe and effective use of Prizate 150 mg and Prizate 300 mg.
