PRIZATE-M

Pregabalin & Methylcobalamin Capsules I.P.

Prizate-M (Pregabalin & Methylcobalamin Capsules I.P.) combines pregabalin, a neuromodulator that calms overactive pain pathways, with methylcobalamin (active vitamin B12), a neurotrophic vitamin that helps repair and protect nerves. Pregabalin binds to the α2δ subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in hyper-excitable neurons and reduces the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate, noradrenaline and substance P. This helps relieve burning, shooting or tingling neuropathic pain and improves sleep quality. Methylcobalamin supports myelin synthesis, axonal regeneration and healthy neurotransmission, which can enhance nerve recovery in deficiency or injury. The usual marketed strength in this capsule is pregabalin 75 mg with methylcobalamin 750 mcg, and it should be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Some people may experience dizziness, sleepiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, swelling of feet or hands, weight gain, constipation or difficulty concentrating due to pregabalin; methylcobalamin is generally well tolerated but may occasionally cause mild gastrointestinal upset or skin rash. Speak with your doctor if side effects persist or become troublesome.

Prizate-M is used under medical supervision for neuropathic pain conditions such as painful diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia and nerve-related pain following spine disorders or injury. It is also used to treat peripheral neuropathy due to vitamin B12 deficiency and as a supportive therapy in other nerve-pain syndromes where your clinician considers the pregabalin–methylcobalamin combination appropriate.

Dosing is individualized. Many adults begin with one capsule daily and may increase to one capsule twice daily based on response and tolerability, as directed by the physician. Swallow the capsule whole with water at the same times each day; do not open, crush or chew it. Because pregabalin is cleared by the kidneys, dose reductions are often required in renal impairment and in older adults. Do not stop suddenly unless your doctor tells you to, as a gradual taper reduces the chance of withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sweating or disturbed sleep.

Storage: Store Prizate-M in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Common Side Effects: The most frequently reported effects are dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation, weight gain, peripheral swelling and difficulty concentrating. Less common reactions include mood changes, euphoria, unsteady gait, tremor or palpitations. Methylcobalamin may rarely cause acneiform rash or gastrointestinal discomfort. Seek medical help promptly if you develop new or worsening swelling, shortness of breath, severe rash or allergic swelling, vision changes that do not settle, or thoughts of self-harm.

Drug Warnings: Before taking Prizate-M, inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure, heart problems including heart failure or a tendency to leg swelling, thyroid issues, glaucoma or prostate conditions, kidney disease, a history of depression, mood disorders or substance use disorder, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid taking this medicine with other sedating medications unless advised, as it may increase drowsiness and impair alertness and coordination.

Drug–Drug Interactions: Prizate-M may interact with certain medications, notably opioid painkillers and other central nervous system depressants (benzodiazepines, sleep medicines, antipsychotics, sedating antihistamines), which can add to sedation and, rarely, breathing problems. Concomitant use with ACE inhibitors may increase the risk of swelling; with thiazolidinedione antidiabetics it may increase edema and weight gain. Chloramphenicol can blunt the blood-forming response to vitamin B12; discuss any long-term antibiotics or chemotherapy with your doctor. Always tell your doctor about all prescription and over-the-counter drugs and supplements you are taking.

Drug–Food Interactions: The capsules can be taken with or without food. Limit alcohol while on Prizate-M, as it may increase sleepiness, dizziness and reaction-time impairment.

Drug–Disease Interactions: Patients with kidney impairment require dose adjustments and close monitoring. Caution is advised in heart failure or significant edema, in glaucoma or prostate enlargement due to possible visual blurring or urinary effects, and in individuals with a history of substance misuse because pregabalin can cause dependence or misuse in some patients. Always share your full medical history to ensure safe and effective use of Prizate-M.
