Biotor-EZ (Atorvastatin & Ezetimibe Tablets) is a combination medicine used to manage high cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular complications. It contains two active ingredients: Atorvastatin and Ezetimibe.

Atorvastatin belongs to a group of medicines known as statins. It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) involved in cholesterol production in the liver, thereby reducing the levels of “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides while increasing the “good” cholesterol (HDL). Ezetimibe, on the other hand, reduces the absorption of cholesterol from food in the intestine. Together, these two components help lower total cholesterol more effectively than either medicine alone, supporting better heart and vascular health.

Common side effects may include headache, muscle pain, nausea, or stomach discomfort. These are usually mild and temporary. Always take Biotor-EZ exactly as prescribed by your doctor to achieve the best results.

Biotor-EZ (Atorvastatin & Ezetimibe Tablets) is indicated for the treatment of hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol levels) and mixed dyslipidemia when diet and lifestyle changes alone are insufficient. It is also prescribed to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in patients with established heart disease, diabetes, or other risk factors.

This combination therapy works by controlling both the production and absorption of cholesterol, making it highly effective in achieving healthy lipid profiles and preventing long-term heart complications.

Patients should take Biotor-EZ (Atorvastatin & Ezetimibe Tablets) exactly as directed by their doctor. The usual recommended dose is one tablet once daily, preferably taken in the evening with or without food. The dosage may vary depending on the patient’s cholesterol levels, age, and response to treatment.

The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and not crushed or chewed. Continue taking Biotor-EZ even if you feel well, as high cholesterol often has no symptoms. Do not stop the medicine without consulting your doctor.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Common Side Effects: Mild muscle pain, headache, abdominal discomfort, or nausea may occur. If symptoms persist or worsen, inform your doctor promptly.

Drug–Drug Interactions: Biotor-EZ may interact with certain medicines such as antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin), antifungal agents (ketoconazole, itraconazole), anticoagulants (warfarin), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), and other cholesterol-lowering agents (fibrates, niacin). These combinations may increase the risk of muscle problems or alter drug effectiveness. Always inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.

Drug–Food Interactions: Avoid consuming large quantities of grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Biotor-EZ, as it can increase Atorvastatin levels in the blood and raise the risk of side effects. Maintain a healthy diet low in saturated fats and cholesterol to enhance treatment effectiveness.

Drug–Disease Interactions: Patients with liver disease, kidney dysfunction, thyroid disorders, or excessive alcohol use should take Biotor-EZ cautiously. Regular monitoring of liver enzymes and lipid levels is recommended during therapy.
