AVATIC Tablet

CETIRIZINE HCL 10MG TABLET

AVATIC (Cetirizine Dihydrochloride 10mg Tablets I.P.) is an antihistamine medicine used to relieve symptoms caused by allergies. Allergic reactions occur when the body’s immune system overreacts to substances like pollen, dust, pet dander, or certain foods. This reaction triggers the release of histamine, a chemical responsible for common allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, watery eyes, and skin rashes.

Cetirizine, the active ingredient in AVATIC, works by blocking histamine at its receptor sites, preventing it from triggering allergic responses. By inhibiting histamine activity, AVATIC helps reduce nasal congestion, eye irritation, hives, and other symptoms caused by allergic reactions.

For most adults, AVATIC is non-sedating, meaning it usually does not cause significant drowsiness, which makes it convenient for daytime use. Some patients may experience mild side effects such as sleepiness, headache, dry mouth, or mild fatigue. These effects are generally temporary. Patients should always follow their doctor’s instructions and consult a healthcare professional if side effects persist or worsen. AVATIC should never be used in place of emergency allergy medications, such as epinephrine, for severe allergic reactions.

AVATIC (Cetirizine 10mg Tablets I.P.) is prescribed to relieve and manage a variety of allergy-related conditions. It is effective for seasonal allergic rhinitis, which includes symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and watery eyes caused by pollen or seasonal triggers. It is also used for perennial allergic rhinitis, where chronic allergic reactions arise due to dust, pet dander, or indoor allergens. AVATIC is helpful in treating urticaria (hives), which presents as itchy, red, or raised skin rashes caused by an allergic response. Additionally, it may be used for other mild allergy-related symptoms, such as swelling, itching, or irritation from insect bites or minor food allergies, under a doctor’s guidance. By controlling allergic symptoms, AVATIC helps improve patient comfort, sleep, and daily activity without causing significant sedation in most adults.

For adults and children above 12 years, the usual dosage is one tablet (10 mg) once daily, which can be taken with or without food. For children aged 6–12 years, typically half a tablet (5 mg) once or twice daily is recommended, as directed by a doctor. In elderly patients, the dose may be adjusted based on kidney function. Patients should swallow the tablet whole with water and should not crush, chew, or break it.

Storage: Store AVATIC in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Common Side Effects: Sleepiness, dry mouth, mild headache, fatigue, or stomach discomfort may occur. If these symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Drug Warnings: AVATIC is intended specifically for allergy-related conditions. Patients with severe kidney or liver disease should consult their doctor before use. Avoid combining AVATIC with other sedating medications unless advised, as this may increase drowsiness.

Drug–Drug Interactions: AVATIC may interact with sedatives, sleep medications, or alcohol, increasing the risk of drowsiness. Always inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Patients with kidney or liver impairment, glaucoma, or prostate enlargement should use AVATIC with caution. Always discuss your full medical history with your doctor to ensure safe use.

Drug–Food Interactions: AVATIC can be taken with or without food. Limit alcohol intake during treatment as it may worsen sleepiness or dizziness.
